‘The wood is full of wicked thieves,
Of robbers wild and strong,
But though he walked the gallows way
Of him I had no wrong.
-GK Chesterton
Robin Hood and his merry band have traveled through folklore, novels and films, but now they come to the Rochester Opera House stage May 20-22 2022. Chesterton Stage Productions and their troupe of talented teens will transport you to Sherwood Forest; as the fast talking, swash buckling Robin Hood teams up with the refined yet deadly Maid Marian to free the common people oppressed by the rule of King John. Robin is joined by his colorful companions, Little John, Will Scarlet, and Friar Tuck and more. He will need all the help he can get as the Sheriff of Nottingham brings in Guy of Gisborne; A crafty mercenary with magical leather armor giving him the strength of a horse!
This show is going to be so much fun. The script, from stage and screen writer Larry Balmier, is full of snappy dialog, witty characters, and an exciting yet breezy plot. Sensei Derek Nelson of Quest Martial Arts and Safe Haven Ballet, returns as fight choreographer to make sure that every battle and brawl is exciting! (Whether they are fighting with swords, arrows, or quarter staff!) Christopher Ouellette (CSP / HTG / PCA) is directing this bright cast of young actors. Lead by Shepherd Rost (I Named My Toys Alex / Coraline) as Robin Hood, Eowyn Ouellette (Princess and the Goblin / Little Women) as Maid Marian and Gwyneth Butler (Stinky Cheese Man / Coraline) as the Sheriff of Nottingham, you will be impressed and engaged by the fun performances! All of this and original music from Nathan Barcelona.
